Finally, people have started asking important questions. It’s never to late to question the inequalities of society.

I am the 1 percent, i stand with the 99 percent.

I was born in Colombia.I have education and health insurance...

I was born in Colombia.
I have education and health insurance thanks to a family that can afford taking care of me. Both my parents worked very hard (still do) and I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to move to another country when I was 17y.o. to go to Medical School.
I’ve seen a lot of thing during my training. But some of the worst and most heartbreaking have been situation where families are denied medical treatment because “they’re too expensive” or “insurance won’t cover it”. In the meantime, insurance companies make profit.
Healthcare should not be a choice, but a right.
I am the 1%.
I am graduating from college without any debt.

I am only 21 years old and I have almost $10 Million USD when I put my Trust Fund and Stock options together.

My family owns a private manufacturing company that produces wet wipes and coffee filters and the like. The company competes evenly with major players like Proctor and Gamble.

I am also Active Duty US Military (Army) who are paying in full for my Medical School. I will most likely one day own a gym and run my medical practice out of it. I will be able to do this without incurring any debt.

This is a huge and lofty dream. It is an expensive dream. But even with a HUGE endeavor like this, I require not even 20% of what I currently have.

Last time I checked, I was just making the 10%.

My dad makes approximately $100,000 /year

With this, my family is able to live a comfortable middle class life.

We could be living a better life on this income, but we happen to live in an area with one of the highest costs of living in the country…. and one of the best public education systems. By being able to afford living in this area, I was given the opportunities to go to magnet schools and truly excel.

Because of this, I was able to win a full-ride scholarship to a private university.

But even if I hadn’t, my parents would have helped me pay to go to a public university and I would still graduate with no debt.

A comfortable, secure childhood, and all the opportunities provided by a good education.

Everyone should have access to these things.

I stand with the 99%.

I was born into the 99%, my parents came here from third world...

I was born into the 99%, my parents came here from third world countries and worked hard. By the time I was 12, we were part of the 1% and spent time travelling the world first class, owning Rolls Royces, going to British boarding schools and having 5 houses in different countries to call our own. I still remember what it was like to be in the lowest income bracket. My parents are living proof that you can work hard and make it, but they understand that not everyones lucky or even given the chance. We now pay to educate and empower 20,000 children in dire situations across the world and advocate for a fair tax with other one percenters and transparent government, so we know that money is going towards the greater good and not used to bail out the reckless scum that threw people I love under the bus with their greed.

I’m 17 years old and I’ve vacationed all across Asia, Europe, and North and South America. I’ve had a life enriched with private schooling, classical piano lessons, sports, and all the books and opportunities I could ever want. My brother recently graduated from MIT and took out $2000 in student loans, not because he had to but because my parents want him to learn responsibility (they paid the rest). He now works on Wall Street.

I don’t think it’s fair that people are sometimes held back from opportunities because of financial situations. I know two really smart girls in my grade who didn’t apply to this great summer program (St. Paul’s) because they didn’t have the money. This is ridiculous. If we as a country want to keep moving forward, we can’t let any potential go to waste like this. Nobody should have their education or opportunities hindered because of money.

I am the 1 percent; I stand with the 99 percent.

My childhood consisted of incredible vacations, boarding school, ski racing, classical piano lessons, and many more luxuries. My parents are both Ivy League graduates and surgeons who come from families with generations of wealth. We have never bought a used car–in fact, there are four cars at our main house for the four people in our family.

I’ve always been told how crass it is to talk about my wealth. But it’s time to talk about it.
