I was born in Venezuela where inequality and government corruption are the norm. Both my parents worked very hard (still do) and I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to move to another country when I was 17y.o. to go to Medical School.
I’ve seen a lot of thing during my training. But some of the worst and most heartbreaking have been situation where families are denied medical treatment because “they’re too expensive” or “insurance won’t cover it”. In the meantime, insurance companies make profit.
Healthcare should not be a choice, but a right.
I am the 1%. I stand with the 99%.
