My Arab father from a wealthy background came to the USA to attend an Ivy League University. He graduated with his PhD, married an American, settled and found work here. I grew up attending private schools, living in some of the wealthiest neighborhoods in America. I have always had access to medical care (needs) in addition to many luxuries (wants). Ive graduated from university, like my father, debt free. And if I ever cannot pay my credit card bill alone, my parents will pay it for me.
I am grateful for the opportunities to learn, travel and work as I please. But I also dont think its fair that as I can afford to live as I do, while many can hardly make ends meet, if that at all. I want to live in a world of equal opportunity, even if it means giving up my luxuries.
I am the 1%. And I stand with the 99%
