We are sisters. We inherited wealth from our family. We graduated college debt free.
Everyone should have access to the same healthcare, education and opportunites as we did.
Tax our wealth. We are the 1%. We stand with the 99%.
I made more than I need after 12 years of hard work. Now I’m giving back but I can’t do it on my own. I need government to help redistribute my wealth. Tax me! I am the 1%, I stand with the 99%.
My father’s money couldn’t buy me love, happiness or health…
But at least it’s paid for private schools, health insurance, and plenty of stuff I probably could’ve lived without.
Now I’m 18, with crippling mental & physical health problems, next to no work experience, and no high school diploma.
All my life, I’ve lived by my father’s wealth and other people’s goodwill, in constant fear of the day the rug gets pulled out from under me and I’m forced to try and swim against a tide that has even most NORMAL people struggling to stay afloat.
I don’t know if that makes me the 1% or the 99% or BOTH, but I am 100% CERTAIN that things have got to change.
- The year I was born, my father and grandfather started a business that brought a much-needed service to our community.
-Overnight, they became millionaires. Simultaneously, I recieved a birthright, and a wealthy inheritance.
-I grew up in a moderately, secular, safe, small city that was consistently ranked in the top 3 ‘best places to live in America’ for five straight years
-This city is known for it’s world-renowned medical clinic. Because of this, I have had excellent health coverage my entire life.
-I have recieved the highest standard of education and I will graduate college with no loans to pay off because of the family business.
-I do not have a job because I do not need to work.
-I do not feel guilty for the life I have, nor do I feel especially spoiled by the things I have been granted
-My life is amazing. I want everyone to have what I have.
-I am the 1%. I stand with the 99%. TAX ME
I have never wanted for anything in my life. I stand with the 99%. Tax me!
I come from the 1 percent. I don’t have to pay a rent, as my parents own my home. They paid for my Master’s degree and everything that goes along during these five years. As I live in France, I don’t have to pay for healthcare and actually my education was affordable. However now, apart from the place where I stay, my parents don’t pay anything else for me and I’m happy with that. I work in a non profit where I earn the minimum legal wage, which is enough to survive, and even though I’ll probably never get what my parents got, I feel useful and my life has a meaning. Tax’em, pay more social workers, stop neoliberalism which is just a machine to increase injustice and inequalities. I come from the 1 percent, I chose to go with the 99 percent
My grandfather was an immigrant. He had the good fortune to achieve the American Dream through hard work and luck.
I am the beneficiary of his efforts and the country that enabled it. I have had the best of everything and never wanted for anything.
But I recognize that something is wrong. The system is rigged to protect and enrich the wealthy. The American Dream is becoming a fantasy. It needs to be renewed.
RAISE MY TAXES
I STAND WITH THE 99%
I’m richer than 99% of the (7 billion) people in the world.
We in the richest 1% in the world own 40% of the household wealth
while the bottom 50% has only 1%.
I gave half of my net worth to advance social and economic justice,
and plan to give close to 100% of my financial assets by the time I die.
I feel more hopeful about our future knowing many others who are joyfully doing the same. I am the 1%. I stand with the 99%.
